Come On Eileen
03:49
|
|||
Poor old Johnny Ray
Sounded sad upon the radio moved a million hearts in mono
Our mothers cried
Sang along, now who'd blame them
You're grown (you're grown up), so grown (so grown up)
Now I must say more than ever
Toora-loora-toora-loo-rye-aye
and we can sing just like our fathers
Come on Eileen oh, I swear (well he means)
at this moment you mean everything
With you in that dress, my thoughts (I confess)
verge on dirty, Ah come on Eileen
These people round here
wear beaten-down eyes sunk in smoke-dried faces,
so resigned to what their fate is
but not us (no never) not us (no never)
we are far too young and clever, or so we thought
Toora-loora-toora-loo-rye-aye
Eileen I'll hum this tune for ever
Come on Eileen, oh I swear (well he means)
Ah come on let's take off everything
That pretty red dress, ah Eileen (tell him yes)
Ah come on let's, ah come on Eileen
That pretty red dress, ah Eileen (tell him yes)
Ah come on let's, ah come on Eileen
Please...
Come on Eileen too-loo rye-aye come on
Eileen too-loo rye-aye
Now you have grown, now you have shown, oh Eileen
You’ve grown and you show how you feel
‘Cause now I must say more than ever
Toora-too-loora
things round here have changed
Too-ra loo-ra too-ra loo-rye-aye
Come on Eileen too-loo rye-aye come on Eileen too-loo rye-aye toora toora-too-loora

Three Drunken Maidens
02:02
|
|||
There were three drunken maidens came from the Isle of Wight
They started to drink on Monday never stopped till Saturday night
On Saturday night they came my lads but still they wouldn't get out
And then three drunken maidens they pushed the jug about
Then in came dancing Sally her cheeks a rosy bloom
Shove o'er you jolly sisters and give young Sal some room
And I will be your equal before the evening's out
And then three drunken maidens they pushed the jug about
They had woodcock and pheasant, partridge and hare
And every sort of dainty, no shortage there was there
They'd forty gallons of beer me lads but still they wouldn't get out
And then three drunken maidens they pushed the jug about
Then in came the landlord, he was looking for his pay
Forty pounds for beer me lads these girls were forced to pay
They had ten pounds apiece me lads but still they wouldn't get out
And then three drunken maidens they pushed the jug about
Where are your fancy hats and your mantles rich and fine?
They've all been swallowed up me lads with tankards of fine wine
And where are your fancy men, young maidens frisk and gay?
You left them in the ale house and it's there you'll have to pay.

Float
05:06
|
|||
drank away the rest of the day
wonder what my liver'd say
drink, it's all you can
blackened days with their bigger gales
blow in your parlor to discuss the day
listen, it's all you can
but don't, don't sink the boat
that you built, you built to keep afloat.
no don't, don't sink the boat
that you built...
sick and tired of what to say
no one listens anyway
sing, it's all you can
rambling years of lousy luck
miss the smell of burning turf
dream, it's all you can
but don't, don't sink the boat
that you built, you built to keep afloat.
no don't, don't sink the boat
that you built... that you built keep afloat
singled out for who you are
takes all types to be a man
feel, it's all you can
filthy suits with bigot ears
hide behind their own worst fears
live, it's all you can
it's all you can
it's all you can...do.
no matter where i put my head
i wake up feeling sound again
breathe, it's all you can
tomorrow smells of less decay
the flowers greet this bloomin' fray
be thankful, it's all you can
but don't, don't sink the boat
that you’ve built, you built to keep afloat.
but don't, don't sink the boat
that you built, you built to keep afloat.
no don't, no don't sink the boat
that you built
we all built to keep afloat
it's a ripe old age
it's a ripe old age
it's a ripe old age
that's what i am
a ripe old age
a ripe old age
a ripe old age
just doin' the best i can
… the best i can

Dirty Old Town
02:46
|
|||
I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
I kissed my girl by the factory wall
Dirty old town, Dirty old town
Heard a siren from the docks
Saw a train set the night on fire
Smelled the breeze on the smoky wind
Dirty old town, Dirty old town
Clouds are drifting across the moon
Cats are prowling on their beat
There springs a girl in the streets at night
Dirty old town, Dirty old town
I'm going to make me a big sharp axe
Shining steel tempered in the fire
I’ll chop you down like an old dead tree
Dirty old town, Dirty old town

Sally McLennane
02:45
|
|||
Well Jimmy played harmonica in the pub where I was born
He played it from the night-time to the peaceful early morn
He soothed souls of psychos and the men who had the horn
and they all looked very happy in the morning
But Jimmy didn't like his place in this world of ours
Where the elephant man broke strong men's necks when he'd had too many powers
So sad to see the grieving of the people he was leaving
And he took the road for god knows in the morning
We walked him to the station in the rain
We kissed him as we put him on the train
And we sang him a song of times long gone
though we knew that we'd be seeing him again
Sad to say I must be on my way
so buy me beer and whiskey 'cause I'm going far away
I'd like to think I'll be returning when I can
to the greatest little boozer and to Sally McLennane
The years passed by the times had changed I grew to be a man
I learned to love the virtues of sweet Sally McLennane
I took the jeers and drank the beers and I crawled back home at dawn
And ended up a barman in the morning
I played the pump and took the hump and watered whiskey down
I talked of whores and horses to the men who drank the brown
I heard them say that Jimmy's making money far away
Some people left for heaven without warning
When Jimmy came back home he was surprised that they where gone
He asked me all the details of the train that they went on
Some people they are scared to croak but Jimmy drank until he choked
And took the road for heaven in the morning

Only Our Rivers Run Free
02:57
|
|||
When apples still grow in November,
When blossoms still bloom on each tree,
When leaves are still green in December,
It's then that our land will be free.
I wandered her hills and her valleys and still through my sorrow I see,
A land that has never known freedom, only her rivers run free.
I drink to the death of her manhood,
Those men who would rather have died
Than to live in the cold chains of bondage
To bring back their rights were denied.
Where are you now, when we need you,
What burns where the flame used to be?
Are you gone like the snows of last winter, will only our rivers run free?
How sweet is life but we're crying, how mellow the wine that were dry,
How fragrant the rose but it’s dying, how gentle the wind, but it sighs.
What good is youth when it’s ageing, what joy is in eyes that can’t see?
When there’s sorrow in sunshine and flowers,
And only our rivers run free.

One
03:55
|
|||
Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say
One love
One life
When it's one need
in the night
It's one love
We get to share it
It leaves you baby
If you don't care for it
Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's
too late
Tonight
To drag the past out
Into the light
We're one
But we're not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other
Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head
Did I ask
too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
We hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt
One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other
One
One.

The Irish Rover
03:41
|
|||
In the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and six
We set sail from the fair Cobh of Cork.
We were bound far away with a cargo of bricks
To the fine city hall of New York.
In a very fine craft, she was rigged fore-and-aft
And oh, how the wild winds drove her.
She had twenty-three masts and withstood several blasts
And we called her the Irish Rover.
There was Barney McGee from the banks of the Lee
There was Hogan from County Tyrone.
And a chap called McGurk who was scared stiff of work
And a chap from Westmeath called Malone.
There was Slugger O'Toole who was drunk as rule
And fighting Bill Casey from Dover.
There was Dooley from Claire who was strong as a bear
And was skipper of the Irish Rover.
We had one million bales of old billy goat's tails
We had two million buckets of stones.
We had three million sides of old blind horses hides
We had four million packets of bones.
We had five million hogs, we had six million dogs
And seven million barrels of porter.
We had eight million bag of the best Sligo rags
In the hold of the Irish Rover.
We had sailed seven years when the measles broke out
And the ship lost her way in the fog.
And the whole of the crew was reduced unto two
'T was meself and the captain's old dog.
Then the ship struck a rock with a terrible shock
And then she heeled right over.
Turned nine times around, and the poor dog was drowned
I'm the last of the Irish Rover.

If Tomorrow Never Comes
02:59
|
|||
Sometimes late at night
I lie awake and watch her sleeping
She's lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt the way I feel
About her in my heart
If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she's my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face this world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes
'Cause I had loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where there's no second chance to tell her how I feel
So tell that someone that you love
Just what you`re thinking of
If tomorrow never comes

Lords & Thieves
02:47
|
|||
Hypnotized by your little eyes, I try not to show you my surprise
but apparently you noticed anyway
Although I try to do my best, I spill some whiskey on your dress
'Scuse me, I'm awkward - what's your name ?
You didn't answer me, didn't want to look at me
Ran outta here before I caught your eye
'cos when you're on the town with your fancy friends around
you party till the night is just a sigh
'cos you don't want to waste your time with the people here
As if you've drawn a line between lords & thieves
Then out of the blue I met you with a strange guy in a fancy suit
who said he felt his love for you was pure
I had to rub my eyes, scratch my ears for a moment I couldn't breathe
Excuse me sir? Are you sure?
Well you didn't answer me you didn't even look at me
Ran outta here before I caught your eye
'cos when you're on the town with your fancy friends around
You never watch the faces passing by
Watch your step, you're on very slippery ground
If you fall, tell me who will be around?
Watch the way you trust these people there
It'll be hard to cross that line on your way down
